A motor coach rally!

We attended our first large motor coach rally this year at Minot, North Dakota. The rally was sponsored by Family Motor Coach Association and was held August 14-18th, 2005. We were amazed and impressed. It was remarkable to imagine the strategizing and organizing that such an event takes.

About 3000 motor coaches attended and the city of Minot, population 36,000 was increased by 1/3 of its size with around 12, 000 extra people. There were displays of every kind of product related to motor homes including various sizes and models of motor coaches.

Seminars on a wide selection of topics were offered: crafts, motor home maintenance and equipment usage to life style. Graham and Treena Kerr, of the Galloping Gourmet television show spoke on their lifestyle strategy of the four 9s on their Outdulgence Tour.

We enjoyed nightly entertainment in the Grand Stand of the State Fair Grounds that included Roy Clark and the Lettermen and a great group from Chicago called Odyssey.

Beautiful Mount Baker Posted by Picasa

Artist's Point

Melissa, Hugh and I loved our trip up to Artist’s Point on Mount Baker in Washington state. We went Saturday, July 30th, it was sunny, ideal to visit the mountains. We left Bellingham on State road 542 stopping at Nooksack Falls to enjoy the water and have our picnic lunch. The road was excellent, most of it newly paved and though it is only a 2 lane highway, the traffic was light.

Artist’s Point has many trailheads and it was cool to see people using them, including climbers on the glacier. We plan to return and hike this spectacular area.
