Sunday adventure in the North West

Our Sunday morning walk was filled with sunshine and great smells of sap and flowers. With regret we went into the motor coach for breakfast. We realized we had to get out and continue enjoying this wonderful day in the North West. It was time to explore Whidbey Island, we decided.

From Bellingham we drove south on I-5, turning off at exit 230 onto Highway 20. We went west and toured the charming town of Anacortes, then headed south on 525 toward Whidbey Island.

Enjoy the photo of Deception Pass at the north end of Whidbey Island. We continued south on Whidbey Island, enjoying the green forests, flowering beds and the well kept gardens. Next, we took a look at the ferry terminal to Port Townsend before traveling to Clinton and ferrying across to Mukilteo.

From Mukilteo, the traffic was heavier, as we skirted the northern edge of Seattle area. We found I-5 again, and drove north to Bellingham, taking about 6 hours to enjoy the beautiful countryside and fantastic and varying views of the ocean.
